Funeral services for Bonnie Lee Briscoe, 89, will be 10 a.m. Monday in the McClure Chapel of First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Patman officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Bonnie Lee Briscoe, daughter of the late James Jefferson and Bonnie Gertrude Payne Stribling, was born May 25, 1917, at Berwyn. Bonnie died at Ardmore in a local hospital Sept. 28, 2006.
Bonnie received her bachelors degree from Southeastern State College and was an employee of the Bureau of Indian Affairs from 1940 to 1972. She had worked in Montana, Alaska, California, Minnesota, South Dakota, Washington, D.C., New Mexico and Oregon for the bureau. She and her husband, Francis E. Briscoe, returned to Ardmore in 1977.
A member of First United Methodist Church and the Chester Dennis Sunday School Class, Bonnie was also a member of Ardmore Little Theatre, Charles B. Goddard Center For Performing Arts, Magnolia Flower Club, Kitchen Crew Bowling League and the Ladies Bridge Club. Bonnie had a love for dancing, especially to the big band music of the 1930s and 1940s. She and her husband were also members of Two Left Feet and the 100 Club of Ardmore, as well as three other clubs in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include her husband, Francis E. Briscoe, of the home; niece, Susan Brenthall, Nashville, Tenn.; and a cousin, Glenn Alan Payne, Gene Autry.
