Harry Strawn was 87 when he passed away in his home. He served as the Mayor of Springfield, Missouri, from 1981 to 1983 and served two terms on the Springfield City Council in the 1970's and early 1980's.
He was a lieutenant colonel in the U. S. Air Force during the European and Pacific theaters during World War II. He was shot down over North Africa and taken prisoner. He was awarded a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Cause of death: lung cancer.
