SWANTON - Alberta S. Beebe, 88, a longtime resident of the Swanton community, died late Tuesday evening, Jan. 31, 2006, at the Haven Health Care Center in St. Albans Town.
Born in St. Albans on April 21, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Eunice (Leach) Strait. She graduated from Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans and later attended Hair Dressing School.
She was married to Gaylord Beebe of Swanton, and for employment reason relocated to Connecticut. In 1945 they returned to Swanton to continue the operation of Gaylord's family farm and spent the next three decades raising turkeys, ponies and producing milk. During their retirement years Alberta and Gaylord enjoyed sixteen winters in Orange City, Fla.
Alberta loved playing cards and was a regular at area 500 card and bridge parties including the Autonoe Club. She was a longtime member of the Swanton Memorial United Methodist Church.
Alberta was predeceased by her husband, Gaylord, and her sister, Helen Derby of Richford.
She leaves her sisters: Alma Jackson of Colebrook, Conn., Charlene Curtis and husband Roger of Lake Helen, Fla.; and a brother, Charles (Bud) Strait of St. Albans. Also surviving are two sons: David Beebe and his wife, Clare of Swanton, and Ted Beebe and his partner, Kathy Auletta of Fairfax; grandchildren, Chris, Celeste, Carrie and Gayle, and great-grandchildren, Alex, Nathan Alana and Emily; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services and Interment will be held in the spring in Riverside Cemetery.

Arrangements have been under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton.
