Irma Jean (Stowe) Sloan, 75, of Cherry died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at the Heritage Manor in Chisholm.

Irma Jean (Stowe) Sloan was born Jan. 15, 1935, in Bovey, and on Jan. 9, 2011, was re-united with her parents William and Lillie Stowe; sister, Edna; and brother, William after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

This was not her first diagnosis of this horrible disease and with each her words were, "I will beat it because I have too much to live for." She would focus on the next family milestone, whether it be a wedding or an upcoming birth of a great-grandchild, she would say she had to be here to see. She was so excited to spend the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays away from the nursing home with her family. She also celebrated her 58th wedding anniversary with a special "dinner for two" on Dec. 27, 2010, with the love of her life, Bob.

She was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of Cherry; daughters, Roberta (Randy) Roos and Tamora (Todd) Ellis, both of Cherry; son, Steven of Cherry; sister, Elena Wennen of Hillsborough, N.C.; sister-in-law, Jordith Sloan of Superior, Wis.; granddaughters, Jenn (Abdel Nasri) Roos of Fergus Falls, Minn., Tricia (Daniel) Hopper and JoAnna Wermter, both of Grand Forks, N.D.; grandsons, Matthew (Amanda) Roos of Side Lake, Minn. and Anthony (Raeni) Roos of Plymouth, Wis.; six great-grandchildren, Leila and Safia Nasri of Fergus Falls, Minn., Zachary and Justin Roos of Side Lake, Minn., and Fayth and Hannah Roos of Plymouth, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements are with the Range Funeral Home in Virginia.
