Evelyn L. (Bartlett) Carlton, age 84 of Adrian, Missouri passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Willow Lane Nursing Center, Butler, Missouri. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with burial in Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee, Missouri. Family will receive friends one hour before the service on Tuesday at the chapel. Family suggests contributions to the Carpenter Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home. Evelyn was born August 8, 1928, the daughter of Sam and Opal (James) Stoneking. She graduated from Chilhowee High School. She accepted the Lord as her personal savior at the Cornith Baptist Church and later transferred to the Allen Street Baptist Church, Clinton. She was a life time member of the Clinton V.F.W. Auxiliary serving as treasurer, membership chairman, bingo chairman and helped prepare the newsletter for mailing each month. She loved to dance, so her husband of 44 years, Ellsworth Bartlett, now deceased, took her to Knoxville, Tennessee to attend and dance on "Club Dance" TV shows three times before his health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Lonnie Raymond Riley and Calvin Leroy Riley and their father, Raymond Riley. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Eula Jean Riley and one brother, Donald Stoneking and six nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband, Dwayne Carlton of the home; one daughter, Bonnie (Riley) Kidwiler; one son, Clayton Harvey and wife, Cynthia; three brothers, Larry Stoneking and wife, Gwin, Dale Stoneking and wife, Linda and William Stoneking and wife, Barbara; two step sons, Mike Carlton and wife, Virginia, Steven Carlton and wife, Maria; two step daughters, Debbie and Laura Carlton; two sisters, Betty Raveill and husband, Jim and Doris Bedford and husband, Bill as well as twenty three grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton.
