Her father, William Stone, and her mother, L_____ Stone moved shortly after she was born from Kentucky to Indiana and this is where she grew up. 1850 they are enumerated in Mexico, Audrain County, Missouri.
She married George W. Cardwell 1851 in Mexico City, Missouri. Three of their children were buried here.
About 1859 they sailed from NY to San Francisco via the Isthmus of Panama and settled in California. They are enumerated in the 1860 U. S. census for Grand Island, Colusa County, California.
1870 they were farming in Colusa, Colusa County, California.
1880 they are living in 1880 Township 6, Shasta County, California
