MASSENA – Mrs. Iris M. Hall, 100, formerly of East Orvis Street, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 7, 2011 at the St. Regis Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since June 2005.
Iris was born March 13, 1911 in San Francisco, California the daughter of the late George and Effie Richards Stone. Her family moved to the Louisville area when she was 7 years old. She graduated from Massena High School in 1931. On December 15, 1933, she married Theodore R. "Ted" Hall at the Louisville Community Church Parsonage with Rev. Peyton, officiating. Ted predeceased her on April 25, 1991.
She was a homemaker worked as a nurse's aide at Massena Memorial Hospital for a short time. She also worked on the Election Board and with the lunch program at Lincoln and Bridges Schools. She was a former member of the St. Lawrence Rebekah Lodge #348, the Massena Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and AARP. She was very active the First United Methodist Church in Waddington and Massena, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting having made 12 quilts.
Iris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jon T. and Connie Hall of Averill Park; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Richard Conde of Utica; Joan and Joseph Moore of Waddington; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a great grandson, Jacob Moore on May 7, 2005; a sister, Frances Toohey; and 2 brothers, Walter and George Stone.
Friends may call Sunday 2-4 at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena where funeral services will be held Monday 10:00 AM with Tom Nichols, Lay Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Louisville Community Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Waddington United Methodist Church Window Fund or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
