The Bowling Green native was born Aug. 1, 1921. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as the Junior Department Boys Sunday School class teacher, deacon and Victory Sunday School Class member. He attended Bowling Green Business University and Western Kentucky State College prior to his employment as a bookkeeper for local hardware and appliance stores. He retired from Lord Corp. in 1988 and was a member of Bowling Green High School Senators Club and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a son of the late Silas Jonathan Stone and Nelle Jane Shanks Stone. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Jonathan Stone; and a sister, Eva Mae Stone Stevens.

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Ground Stone; a daughter, Sue Lynn McDaniel and her husband, Bob, of Bowling Green; a nephew, Brant Stevens of Baltimore; two brothers-in-law, Vaughn M. Stevens of Louisville and Maxie Ground of Three Forks; a sister-in-law, Madell Holton of Bowling Green; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
