Funeral for Ova Nell Gardner, 95, of Bowie was to be at 2 p. m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Central Baptist Church with Larry Cox officiating. Burial was to be at Elmwood Cemetery.
Gardner died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in Bowie. Born Nov. 11, 1913, in Crafton to Claude and Mable (Jones) Stockard, she married Jack Gardner June 12, 1930. They owned Gardner's Upholstery and Body Shop from 1944 until they retired in 1975. She was a homemaker and seamstress and had been a member of the Central Baptist Church since 1956. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; two sisters; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Freddy Howard. She is survived by her children, Bob Gardner and wife, Doris, of Bridgeport, Don Gardner and wife, Marie, of Jacksboro, Glenna Essary of Greenville, Carolyn Howard of Frisco, Charles Gardner and wife, Mila, of Fort Worth, Gary Gardner and wife, Toni, of Decatur and Mary Robertson and husband, Mike, of Bowie; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jo Mercer, of Chico.
