Cheryl Stockard, 58, Minot, ND, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in her home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Cheryl Ann Paquette was born November 28, 1954, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Rex) Paquette in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was raised and educated in the Springfield area. She graduated Minnechaug Regional High School, Willbraham, Massachusetts in 1972.
Following her high school graduation, she worked for Mass Mutual Insurance Company for several years.
Cheryl moved to Minot in 1976, where she worked various jobs while raising her two children. It was in Minot, where Cheryl met Joe Stockard. They were later married June 4, 1984, in Minot. They made their home in Minot until 1988, when she moved back to Michigan, where she later attained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business and Administration in 1996, from Spring Arbor College.
Following her B.S. degree, she moved to back to Minot, where she worked for MLT Vacations for ten years. She then started her own daycare, Get Along Gang, until May of 2011, when she closed the daycare due to her illness.
Cheryl was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Community Church, and was awarded as Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women.
She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, beading, bowling, Bingo. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving family includes: husband, Joe, Minot; daughters, Heather (Peter) Carmichael, Minot, and Laura (Andrew) Ostrander, Big Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Andrew, Landen, CharlieAnne, Jacob, Abbigail, Andrea, and Ashton; parents, Charles and Dorothy Paquette, Venice, FL; brother, Lee Paquette, Venice, FL.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; grandson, Austin Drew Ostrander.
Cheryl's family will be celebrating her life: Saturday, May 11, 2013, from Noon to 3 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred and can be mailed in care of the family to Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
