Funeral Service Held Sunday Afternoon

Mrs. Charles A. Lane, who for the most of her life, has been a resident of Mediapolis and vicinity, passed away at the St. Francis hospital in Burlington Friday evening, June 21, 1940, about seven o'clock.

Callie Stivers was born in Lawrence county, Illinois, July 27 1876, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Stivers, and at the time of her death had reached the age of 63 years, 8 months and 24 days.

She was united in marriage with Charles A. Lane, of this county, December 23, 1897. ___________ children also surviving are Everett Lane, of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Ethel Upton, of Mt. Pleasant. Also a brother, John Stivers, of Montrose, Colorado, and three sisters: Mrs. W. J. Korf, of Mediapolis; Mrs. Roe Scott, of Afton, Iowa, and Mrs. Link Thomas, of Olds, Iowa. The body was brought to the Giles Funeral Home and the funeral service was held at the Baptist church of which she was a member, Sunday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. A. Kearney, assisted by Rev. Wm. H. Slack, of Keota. Interment in the Kossuth cemetery.
