Kathryn Jean "Katie" Barnard, longtime Burbank resident, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Pawhuska Nursing Home. She was 89.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Burbank Cemetery, under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. George Weston, officiating.
On April 23, 1923, Kathryn was born at home in Osage County to Charles and Mary Ethel (Tapp) Stingley. She attended PaHe Elementary School and graduated from Burbank High School in 1941. On May 2, 1941, Katie married her high school sweetheart, James "Jim" Barnard in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The couple made their home on the family farm in Burbank, where they lived for 60 years. She worked for many years at the State Bank of Fairfax before she retired. Kathryn enjoyed traveling, quilting and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was a wonderful grandmother.
She is survived by her son Steve Barnard and his wife Donna of Burbank and her daughter, LuAnn Christian and her husband Dwight of Pawhuska; one sister, Ruth Blogett of Derby, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Faye Hampton and her husband Bob of Kirtland, NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, one son, Dwight Barnard, one brother, Jim Stingley and brother-in-law, Frank Blodgett.
Casket Bearers will be her beloved grandsons.
Honorary casket bearers will be George Wayman, Joe E. Barnard and Jimmy Stingley.
