Lillian M. Achey, 96, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away peacefully Thursday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

Born in Auburn, Sept. 7, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Sallie Schwenk Stine.

Lillian was a faithful member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven.

She was a gifted seamstress and liked to crochet. She took pleasure in cooking for family and treasured visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished her time in her garden and loved caring for her roses.

Lillian was a member of the Friendship Club of Bohrman's Mill and was a partner with her husband in the family business.

She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David James Achey, in 1975; a daughter, Virginia Marie Achey, 1941; and a son-in-law, Charles William Bensinger, 2009; a brother, Jacob Stine; sisters, Ellen Stine, Clara Krause and Mary Arndt; and a set of twins, baby boy Stine who died at birth and his sister, Emma, who died at age 1.

She is survived by daughters, Joan Bensinger, California, Janet Derr, wife of Robert, Pottsville, and Dawn Merris, wife of Tim, Colorado; and seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
