Edna M. Bird Rites Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph (Edna) Bird, 83, lifelong Taylor County resident, were held at the Bedford Methodist Church Jan. 25 with Rev. J. Milton Kinney officiating. Mrs. Bird died January 22 at Court Street Rest Home, at the age of 83 years, nine months and 16 days. Interment was at New Hope Cemetery, Missouri.

Edna Mable Stewart Bird was born in Holt Center, Taylor County, Ia., April 6, 1881. It was here in Taylor County that she spent her childhood and received her education.
Edna Stewart was married to Joseph Owen Bird on March 9, 1904. To this union six children were born, Mrs. Garland Buzzard and Mrs. Neva Crane of Bedford; Dale of Sheridan, Mo., Edwin of Denver, Colo., Kenneth of Stockton, Calif., and a daughter, Iva, who died as an infant. Later in life she was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bird was baptized into the Christian faith at the Maple Grove church south of Bedford. In 1943 Mrs. Bird moved to Bedford.
Edna was a willing worker whether it was for the church, family or to help friends and neighbors, never complaining over adversities but making the best of every situation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, five sisters, two brothers, an infant daughter and one grandson.
