Ruth S. Galaviz died peacefully April 11, 2015 in Houston, Texas. She is the widow of Pedro Galaviz originally from Monterrey, Mexico. Mrs. Galaviz is one of 10 children born to Thomas Stewart of Bracketville, Texas and Maria Garcia Stewart of Mexico. Mrs. Galaviz is survived by her brother, Mr. Jessie Stewart of Riverside, California; daughter, Dr. Ruthmarie Ferguson; son-in-law, James Ferguson of Katy; granddaughter, Mrs. Crystal Helcel; grandson-in-law, Dr. David Helcel; great-grandsons, Gerald and Felix Helcel of Sugarland; and her beloved sisters-in-law. While all the Stewart siblings were born and reared in San Antonio, their many descendants currently reside across the country. Mrs. Galaviz worked most of her professional life for Lutheran General Hospital as a Charge Nurse. She was a devout Catholic, active church member, and a strong believer in Catholic school education. She was also dedicated to her family and took great joy from ongoing involvement in their lives. She was a very charitable individual giving of herself, her time, and anything she could to help others.
