Sarah Parsons Stewart was born in New Bethlehem, Clarion Co. PA on May 3 1852. She was raised on the family farm, which was located about ½ mile north of New Bethlehem, or Gum Town as it was then called.
In May of 1860, when she was just 8 years old, a tornado swept of the Red Bank Valley. Her mother tragically died and the family house and barn destroyed.

She married William Oliver Butler Kaster on Aug 8 1872, they had 6 children, 5 daughters Harriet, Mina, Olive, Sarah, and Kathryn and one son John.
He was a carpenter and lumber mill operator/owner. They lived their lives in the house they built on the bank of the Red Creek in Hawthorn PA.
