Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, in the chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, Highlands, with the Rev. Johnny Norris officiating.
Burial was in Stewart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mitch Bryson, Brent Sprinkle, David Chastain, Harley Evitt, Richard McConnell and Isaac Bumgarner.
A native of Jackson County, he was a son of the late John Luther Stewart and Ollie Mae Moss Stewart.
He had served in the National Guard and worked in construction as a painter. He also farmed and was a member of Yellow Mountain Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Donette Burnette Stewart; two daughters, Karen Wooten and Donna Collins, both of Greer, S.C.; one son, Brian Stewart of the home; two brothers, Odell Stewart of Cashiers, and John Edward Stewart of Pickens, S.C.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
