He was the son of the late Jack B. Stewart and Frances White Stewart of Batesville, MS and received the DDS degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry.
After serving over four years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, Dr. Stewart practiced general dentistry for over 40 years in Batesville, MS.
Retiring from this practice in 2000, he came to Hot Springs Village, AR where he continued to practice part-time with Drs. Bill B. Lefler, Tom Lefler and Ed Blaine.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jerre, and two daughters.
They are Laura and husband Ralph Cantral of Washington, DC and Jackie and her husband Wally Gardner of Germantown, TN.
He is also survived by five grandchildren: Quinn and Barrett Gardner of Germantown, TN;
Lily Cantral of Washington, DC; Marian Howorth of Memphis, TN and Stewart Howorth of Columbia, MO.
He was a life member of the American Dental Association, the Mississippi and Arkansas Dental Association, the Garland County Dental Society and Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church. It was his privilege to have served on numerous boards and committees. Since coming to Hot Springs Village he served as a board member for the local Boys and Girls Club, the Regions Bank advisory board, and the Board of Directors for Diamante Country Club.
Any memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
