L.E. "Duke" Stewart, 76, of Luray, MO died July 8, 2004 at the Blessing Hospital, Quincy, IL.

He was born June 5, 1928, Alco, Arkansas, a son of Theodore Francis and Elvie Fox Stewart. He was united in marriage to Rae Ilene Carlin on November 17, 1951 in Kahoka, MO. She survives.

Other survivors include 10 children, JoAnn Worrell and special friend Lyle Miller of Wyaconda, MO, Mrs. Steve (Debbi) Kirchner of Wyaconda, MO, Jerry Stewart and special friend Shelly Brown of Luray, MO, Mark Stewart of Luray, MO, Scott Stewart and special friend Diane Schlueter of Williamstown, MO, Bill Stewart and special friend Evie Soper of rural Kahoka, MO, Andy Stewart and special friend Laura Dean of Revere, MO, Todd Stewart of Luray, MO, Pat Stewart and his wife Michelle of Luray, MO, Eric Stewart and his wife Sarah of Luray, MO, one sister, Martha Wilson of Heber Springs, AR, one brother, Fred Stewart of Eudora, KS, one sister-in-law, Betty Stewart of Conway, AR, 22 grandchildren, Staci Justice, Brad Kirchner and his wife Candy, Nathan Kirchner and his wife Kim, Jared Kirchner, Angela Kirchner, Christina Myers, Jesse Stewart, Tiffany Stewart, Jerimiah Stewart and his wife Sandra, Mrs. Clifford (Amy) Justice, Jessica Kay Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Kayla Paul, Sarah Stewart, Wyatt Stewart, Mikie Stewart, James Stewart, Amanda Stewart, Dylan Stewart, Jeffery Stewart, Luke Stewart and Sierra Stewart, 13 great-grandchildren, Trinity and Tyler Justice, Cadence, Brock and Carley Kirchner, Lexie and Griffen Myers, Keely Stewart, Jakobie, Hannah, Kyra, and Keegan Justice, Carly Paul, several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Amy Renee, one grandchild, Steven Lewis, one brother, J.D. Stewart, one brother-in-law, Leon Wilson and his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carlin.

Duke owned and operated Stewart Lumber Company in Luray for over 50 years. He enjoyed feeding his fish, having a vegetable garden, swimming and boating. He treasured the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 11, 2004 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO with Reverend Ernest Deatrick officiating. Burial was in the Wyaconda Cemetery, Wyaconda, MO.
