Ruth Stevens Atchison, 82, a resident of Dover, formerly of DeWitt, died Thursday, December 13, 2007, at the Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born December 9, 1925, at DeWitt, Arkansas to Dewey and Ethel Ellen White Stevens. Ruth was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar Atchison, Sr.; a son, Delmar Atchison, Jr.; a brother, Raymond Stevens; and a sister, Naomi Stevens.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Charles Ewton of Dover; a son, Mark Atchison of Dover; a sister, Jeanette Kinley of Little Rock; four granddaughters, April Schembra and her husband, Phillip of Dover, Amanda Atchison and Jessie Atchison, both of Cabot and Alisa Atchison of Jacksonville; three grandsons, Josh Elrod and Casey Ewton and his wife, Andrea, all of Dover, and James Atchison of Jacksonville; a step grandson, Robert Ewton of Pottsville; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2007, at Pinecrest Memorial Park and Garden Mausoleum near Alexander with the Rev. Bob Branch officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Kinley, Danny Stevens, Josh Elrod, and Casey Ewton.

The visitation room will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
