U.S. Veteran

Arthur Lee Stevens, age 86, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Wednesday evening, May 11, 2011 at Citizen's Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri after a sudden heart attack.

He was born November 30, 1924 in Bolivar, Missouri to Sam Stevens and Maude (Woody) Stevens.

On June 20, 1948 he married Naomi C. Niccum in Bolivar, Missouri.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Arthur owned a cabinet shop in Bolivar and retired after 40 years as an Industrial Education Teacher at Bolivar High School. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Bolivar and the Gideon's International.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son; Larry Lee Stevens.

Arthur is survived by his wife; Naomi C. Stevens of the home, one daughter; Arletta Jones and her husband Bob of Brighton, Missouri, one sister; Willetta Barger of Weaubleau, Missouri, a half brother; Billie Sam Stevens, two half sisters; Lois Rodgers, and Mary Rachel Black, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, May 16, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church in Bolivar, Missouri with Reverend Gary Ankrom officiating under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar, Missouri. Military Honors will be provided by the AMVETS Post #114 of Flemington, Missouri following the memorial service at the church. Interment of Arthur's cremains will take place at a later date in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery just South of Springfield, Missouri.
