ASHLEY O. STEVENS DIES SUDDENLY

Ashley O. Stevens, one of Lane county's best known pioneers, died at his home on East Eleventh street, in Eugene, this forenoon at 10:30 o'clock from heart trouble. His death was sudden, he being up and around the house at the time the summons came. He had been ailing for several years but his condition was not serious. His wife heard him call out in another room and when she reached him he was dying. He was aged nearly 77 years and came to Lane county in 1846. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with interment in the Masonic cemetery. An extended obituary will be published soon.
