ELWOOD-Walter C. Stevens, 59, Wabash, formerly of Elwood, died in the Wabash County Hospital at 10 a.m. Wednesday following an illness of several years.

Rites will be held in the chapel of the Eddingfield Mortuary, Wabash, at 10 a.m. Friday, with Dr. W. W. Wimberly officiating. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.

Surviving are the widow, Sue; one daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Shelby) Kilgore, South Bend; one brother, Roscoe Stevens, Elwood; and one sister, Mrs. Lee Hiatt, Anderson.

He was born in Elwood on Jan. 13, 1888, a son of Samuel and Winnie Pilkington Stevens. His first marriage was to Viola Stagman, who died in 1930. In 1941 he married Sue Smith. A resident of Wabash 34 years, he was a member of the Presbyterian church.
