FRANK A. STEVENS, JR.
Frank A. Stevens, Jr. died on Thursday, March 30, from complications due to cancer. "Alvery," as he was known to his family and friends, was 61. He was born and raised in the White Oak area of Stafford County.
According to his family, Mr. Stevens was a quiet man who believed that actions speak louder than words.
He was retired from the federal government at Quantico's Maintenance Department. He had several jobs there, but most recently he worked as a planner and estimator. He was a member of New Hope Methodist Church in Stafford and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Stevens is survived by Hazel, his wife of 42 years; a son, Ronnie A. Stevens; three daughters, Mrs. Sharon Davis, Mrs. Debbie Williams, and Mrs. Nancy Wrightson; two brothers, Bobby and Claude Stevens; three sisters, Mrs. Audrey Massie, Mrs. Lucille Bourne and Mrs. Arlene Coates; and 10 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Virginia Stevens, who still lives at the old family home. Mr. Stevens' father was the late Frank A. Stevens.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a graveside service. The funeral will begin at Mullins Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2. The Rev. Ernest R. Babel will preside.
Pallbearers will be Bob Davis, Bobby Williams, Jerry Shackelford, Vernon "Hootie" Sullivan, Johnny Pates and Roger Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow workers at Quantico.
The family will receive visitors Saturday, April 1, at Mullins Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
