RICHLANDS NC - Edna S. Burch, age 84, of Richlands, died at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington on Thursday, July 1, 2010.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church in Richlands with Dr. Gary Edens and the Rev. Eddie Phenix officiating. Visitation will be held before the service from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at First Christian Church. Interment will follow in Onslow Memorial Park, Jacksonville.

Edna was born to the late Ashley and Zannie Stevens of Richlands.

She was an active member of First Christian Church in Richlands, where she enjoyed a special relationship with her church family.

Edna worked at Richlands Textiles for about 18 years and for the Onslow County Council on Aging for 20 years. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Burch; four brothers, Vernon, Howard, Rufus and Burgess Stevens; and three stepsons, Ethred, Joe and Connie Burch.

Survivors include one daughter, Bettie B. Gurganus (Bobby) of Jacksonville; five sons, Dennis C. Burch Jr. (Nila) of Lincolnville, Kan., James D. Burch (Bonnie) of Goldsboro, Larry C. Burch (Pearl) of Ivanhoe, Paul G. Burch (Kathy) of Chinquapin and Durwood W. Burch (Jane) of Richlands; one stepdaughter, Malisa B. Baker of Angier; and one stepson, Daniel Burch (Nell) of Dunn.

Other survivors include one sister, Carolyn S. Fisher of Richlands, and one brother, Warren E. Stevens (Darlene) of Wallkill, N.Y. Additionally, Edna is survived by 11 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 15 step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to First Christian Church, 124 Trott Road, Richlands, NC 28574.

Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home in Richlands.
