Bertha Viola Johnson, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 24, 2011 in Spring, Texas.
Mrs. Johnson was born on August 27, 1924 at the family farm outside Mulhall, Oklahoma, to John and Jessie Sterne. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class of 1942 and served her country during WWII as a lathe operator for Douglas Aircraft on a location that is now know as Tinker AFB. She worked as a medical librarian at a number of hospitals for several years and assisted in a number of areas at the McEntire Foot Clinic. Bertha also spent years volunteering at a local hospital bringing lots of grace to all she served.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, and son, Jimmie.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Debra Beasley, and husband, Reginald, of Spring, TX, Linda Rachel, Michael Johnson and wife, Annie, and Jimmie Johnson and wife, Maggie, all of Oklahoma City. Bertha is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one great-great grandchild on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation services will be Friday, July 29, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home, 610 South Duncan, Stillwater, Oklahoma. The funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on July 30, 2011 also at Strode Funeral Home.
Interment will follow the funeral service at Clarkson Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
