Mrs. Goldie R. Black, 52, of Unionville Road, died Sunday night at her home.
She was a native of Monroe County, born October 5, 1916, the daughter of
John and Clara (Polley) Stephens. She was a member of the Friendship
Separate Baptist Church.
Surviving are the husband, Lawrence; her mother, Mrs. Clara Stephens of Rt.
5, Bloomington; five daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Annice) Sears of South
Carolina, Mrs. John O. (Doris) Flynn of Rt. 9, Bloomington, Mrs. Venice
(Lois) Arnold, of Rt. 6, Gosport, Mrs. Russell (Catherine) James of
Solsberry, Mrs. Mark (Ruth) Elkins of Bloomington; three sons, Dewayne Black
of Solsberry, and Ancel and Johnny Black, both of Bloomington; 16
grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth, John H. and Ronald Stephens, all of
Bloomington; and seven sisters, Mrs. Edna Baxter, Mrs. Pearl Fleener, Mrs.
Mary Blackwell, Mrs. Opal Baxter, Mrs. Glodene Floyd, Mrs. Alice Henderson,
all of Bloomington, and Mrs. Pauline Deckard of Mooresville.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Wednesday at the Westside Assembly of God
Church with the Rev. Chester Atchley and Kiah Rayl officiating. Burial will
be in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Day Funeral Home after 7:30 PM Monday.
