SPENCER — Opal Louise Baxter, 80, of Spencer, died at 9:55 p.m. Thursday at her residence.
Born Feb. 2, 1923, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of John and Clara E. (Polley) Stephens.
She was a housewife and member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
She was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Rockie Baxter, Randie Baxter and Roger Baxter, all of Spencer; three daughters, Shirley Winders of Parrish, Fla., Sherry Mobley and Shanta Baxter, both of Spencer; five grandchildren and five great- grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Stephens and Ronald Stephens, both of Stanford, and John H. Stephens of Bloomington; four sisters, Pauline Deckard and Mary Blackwell, both of Ellettsville, Gloydene Floyd of Bloomington and Nora Alice Henderson of Stanford; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Baxter, Sept. 2, 1998, and three sisters, Edna Baxter, Pearl Fleener and Goldie Black.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel, with the Rev. Maurice Wright officiating. Burial will be at Methodist Cemetery in Ellettsville.
Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
