Mabel E. Horning died on Thursday, May 18, 2006 at the Meriter Health Center, Madison. She was born in Van Dyne, Wisconsin on July 4, 1908, the daughter of Edward and Ida Stellmacher. She graduated from Randolf High School in 1927 and Groves Barnhardt Business School in 1941.
She worked as an accountant and office manager at her father's lumber yard in Lomira, at Peerles Luggage Company, Mayville, until 1947 and then at Gerhardt Town Talk Bakery, Fond du Lac, until her retirement in 1971. Mabel especially enjoyed gardening and was gifted at needlework, creating her own patterns and designs, which she gave generously to her family and friends. She moved to Madison in 1998 to be near her son, where she lived first in Meriter Heights and then The Terraces.
She was married to Floyd J. Voight on October 28, 1931 in Augusta, Wisconsin and to Lowell Arthur Horning on December 12, 1950 in Lomira, Wisconsin, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her brother Orville Stellmacher.
She is survived by her son, Thomas N. Voight (Katherine) of Madison, a sister Dorothy Christel of La Crosse, Wisconsin, a brother Edward Stellmacher of New Braunsfeld, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral Information
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Thursday May 25, 2006 at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum Chapel located at Ledgeview Memorial Park, N6250 County Road K, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Funeral will follow at 2pm with the Reverend David Byers-Dent officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home Inc. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial Remembrances can be made in Mabel's memory to the Meriter Foundation, 202 S. Park Street, Madison, Wisconsin 53715.
