Mrs. Riggs, of Rising Sun, and Mrs. Cox, of Aurora, attended the funeral of their grandmother, Mrs. Stegner, last Friday.
Died. Elizabeth Stegner, January 12, 1898, of old age and heart trouble, at the home of her son-in-law, Geo. B. Ashton. She was born in Lancaster, Penn. Feb. 9, 1813. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Kroft Jan. 14, at the church. Burial at St. Paul cemetery. She came to Harrison, Ohio in 1836, where she married Jacob Stegner, after which they moved and entered a tract of land 1 mile south of Sunman. Her husband died Nov. 8, 1873. Since then her home had been with her son-in-law. She united with the M. E. Church during her youth. She died in the faith, and chose the 14th chapter of St. John as a text for her funeral sermon. She was never known to be seriously ill until her last illness. Her life was spent in rearing a family of 8 children , 5 of whom survive her. Her life was known to be upright and doing good to all she had the privilege of associating with.
