John H. Stegner, 101, of Connersville, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Miller's Merry Manor in Rushville.
Born Aug. 16, 1902, in Franklin County, he was the son of Leonard and Helen Stegner, both deceased. He married Dorothy E. Story on Feb. 24, 1934; she preceded him in death.
Mr. Stegner and his wife farmed in Franklin and Fayette counties for more than 60 years. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, a former member of Indiana Farm Bureau, and a member of the Eagles Lodge in Rushville where he was recognized as a Golden Eagle.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Anderson of Connersville and Judith (Mrs. Michael) Strothman of Orange; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Stegner of Brookville.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by four sisters and 10 brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery in Brookville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Moster-Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville, where a rosary service will take place at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are requested to the St. Gabriel Church Endowment Fund.
