Edward F. Stegman, Jr. 79, Lakes of the Four Seasons, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point. Edward was born on May 24, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana to Edward F., Sr. & Ruth (nee Gau) Stegman.

He graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in River Forest, Illinois after which he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving two enlistments from 1946-48 and 1950-51. Ed retired from Indiana BellAmeritech with over 30 years of service.

He will be affectionately remembered as "Santa Claus" to many children who sat in his lap at the Westfield Southlake Mall in Merrillville over a period of 10 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Joan (John) Freeman of Ellettsville, Indiana and Deborah Stegman of Oakland, CA; two grandchildren; step-grandson; sister, Mary Ellen (Elmer) Simon of Frankenmuth, Michigan; former wife, Joyce; sister-in-law, Donna (John) Carlson of Granger, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
