HAYS - Lucy Herrman, 90, died Jan. 27, 1999, at Hays Medical Center, St. Anthony Campus. She was born March 4, 1908, at Munjor, the daughter of John and Angela Herl Steckline.

A lifetime Ellis County resident, she was a homemaker and worked in the housekeeping department at St. Anthony Hospital, Hays. She belonged to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both at Hays.

On Sept. 28, 1926, she married Raymond J. Herrman at Liebenthal. He died March 20, 1994.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond, Gorham, Vern, Hays, and Lee, Wichita; a daughter, Luella Bieker, Hays; two sisters, Katie Dodero, Longmont, Cob., and Bernadine Hirsch, Lakewood, Cob.; 18 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded In death by two brothers, John and Jerome Steckline; and five sisters, Seraphine Schaffer, Laura Calenich, and Anna, Catherine and Christine Steckilne.

VFW Auxiliary memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. today, followed by a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., both at Clime's Mortuary, Hays. Funeral will be at 10 am. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, with Father Bezyl Gibson presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 8 to 9:30 am. Saturday, both at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
