Edward Joseph Steck, 86, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2006 in Sioux City. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 28, 2006 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Greg Hanneman officiating. Services will conclude after military honors at the funeral home.
Ed was born on May 6, 1920 in Sioux City, the son of John and Carrie (Stankevich) Steck. He attended East High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during W.W.II from 1942 until he was discharged in 1945 with the 850 Engineers. He later was with the Air Guard. Ed married Clara Bloom on January 31, 1942 in Sioux City. He was a life-long resident of Sioux City. Ed worked for Johnson Music for 46 years until his retirement in March of 1986. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Consistory.
Survivors include his wife, Clare of Countryside Retirement Home; two children Edward and rhea Steck of Sioux City, and Maryann Bolles of Ankeny, IA; seven grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister Rose Janecek of Denver, CO;
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Stanley and Rudolph, a sister, Kay and a son, Mark.
