Russel J. Stearns, 65, of Bloomer died Oct. 2 at Luther Midelfort Chippewa Valley in Bloomer. Funeral services were Wednesday morning at United Methodist Church in Bloomer with the Rev. Heather Brewer officiating and interment in Bloomer Cemetery.

Mr. Stearns was born Nov. 27, 1943 to Kenneth and Lillian (McClellan) Stearns in Rice Lake. He married Rita Drost on Aug. 11, 1966 in Haugen. He was a teacher, guidance counselor and coach for the Bloomer School District. He enjoyed singing with the Dunn County Barbershoppers, hunting, ice fishing, golfing, attending ball games and having breakfast with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; a daughter, Jacquelyn McGravey of Simsbury, Conn.; three sons, Roger of Tower City, Pa., Jeffrey of Eau Claire and Randy of Bloomer; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Weber and Darlene Folstad, both of Rice Lake, and Marlene Bartels of New Richmond; and a brother, Jerry of Ladysmith
