She taught at Jefferson and Grover Cleveland elementary schools with the City of Erie School District. She retired in 1982 after more than 30 years. She graduated from Academy High School, then received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Edinboro State College. She was a member of Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, the Leisure Club at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization for teachers.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John C. Aiton Jr., in 1965; and a sister, Margaret Hitchin.
Survivors include her husband of 19 years, William G. Wickham Sr.; a daughter, Sandra James and her husband, Don, of Cambridge Springs; a son, Bradley J. Aiton and his wife, Patricia, of Erie; three stepdaughters; three stepsons; a brother, Henry L. Steadman Jr. and his wife, Jean, of Edinboro; a brother-in-law; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
