Tomorrow will mark the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Filbert, 207 East Chestnut street, this city. Both are natives of this city, and Mrs. Filbert is the former Charlotte Stauffenberg, daughter of the late John and Barbara Stauffenberg. The couple was married on May 8, 1909, by the late Rev. J.O. Schlenker, of the Christ Lutheran Church, this city. Mr. Filbert, who retired in 1952, was last employed as a fireman for the Lehigh Valley Railroad Co. Starting in 1911, he worked for the railroad company for 41 years. Prior to 1911, he worked for the late J. C. Fey, painter and paper hanging contractor, and for the late William Reinhart, who ran a carriage works business on West Green street, between Wyoming and Laurel streets, at that time.
Hazleton Standard Speaker, Wednesday, April 4, 1962:
Mrs. Adam J. Filbert, 538 East Broad street, Hazleton, died at home at 2:25 p.m. yesterday from a heart attack. She had been ailing for some time. Mrs. Filbert was formerly employed as a seamstress by Deisroth's Department Store and the Franklin Dress Shop.
The former Charlotte Stauffenberg, she was born in Cranberry February 19, 1887, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John (Barbara Zell) Stauffenberg. Mrs. Filbert resided in Hazleton all of her life and was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church.
Surviving, besides her husband, is a sister, Mrs. Martha Siglin, of Wanamassa, Asbury Park, N.J.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Grebey Funeral Home with Rev. Allen H. Roth officiating. Interment will be in the Vine Street Cemetery. Viewing from 3 p.m. Thursday until time of services.
