LINCOLN-John Paul Starling, 72 of Lincoln passed away on Nov. 16 at 9:59 p.m. at his home. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 218.
John was born on Feb. 15, 1938 in Springfield the son of George and Jacqueline Link Starling. He married Dorothy Smith on September 5, 1959. She survives in Lincoln as well as a son: George Steven (Penny) Starling of Dawson; a daughter: Paula Jo Starling (Ken) Latkovich of Tampa, FL; Grandchildren: Tammy (Mike) Burris, Brittany Starling, Jon Starling and Lexi Latkovich; a great grandchild: Lucy Burris; three brothers: Jim (Beverly) Starling of Peoria; Charles (Sharon) Starling of Springfield; two sisters: Georgie Erlenbush of Edinburg and Marianne Charles of Springfield; also a special niece, Robin Agee, of Middletown and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of the Lincoln Elk's Lodge. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing and being with his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20 at Holy Family Church, Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be given to Catholic Charities or Holy Family Church of Lincoln.
