Sallie Starling was the daughter of David Thomas Starling and Sarah Louise Sturgis. Her brothers William Thomas Starling and Newton Starling are buried a few miles away in Log Union cemetery. Her grandmother Emily Gregory Sturgis is also buried at Log Union and shares a headstone with William and Newton Starling.
