PALMETTO Charles William Staples, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012. He was born on June 29, 1941, to J.C. and Irene Staples. He professed a love in Christ and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He then joined Blackland M.B. Church where he remained an active member until his illness.

As a young country boy, he began to sing Gospel music and during his music career he sung with some of the best groups around. After his career as a gospel singer, he began to work in radio as a Gospel D.J. at WSEL, Pontotoc. That's where many began to know him as The Country Boy Chuck.

He fell in love and married Clara E. Rupert, where they were joined in holy matrimony and remained married for 51 years. He was well-known around the area for his knowledge of fixing automobiles and selling gospel music.

Service is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Blackland Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Earlie Eddie officiating. Interment is at Blackland Cemetery. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
