Rev. Gertrude Stanturf
Gertrude Stanturf, an 87-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2002at the Sunnview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb 13, 2002 at the Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton. Rev. Bill Stanturf will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Cemetery, located south of Princeton.
A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening (Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002) at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Stanturf was born Dec. 1, 1914, the daughter of Lincoln and Pearl Willis Frakes in Miami. She attended schools in Saline County and the School of the Ozarks in Branson. On Sept 4, 1935, she married Delbert O. Stanturf in Trenton. She was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Church of God of America, pastoring in Spickard, Ravanna, Mt. Moriah, Powersville, Bethany and in Iowa.
Mrs. Stanturf is survived by two sons, John Stantruff and his wife Aleta, and Mike Stanturf, both of Trenton; four daughters, Kay Stanturf and Christina Stanturf of Trenton, susanna Wilson and her husband, Smoke, of Spickard and Marilyn Newlon and her husband, Randy, of Kinderhook, IL.; nine grandchildren, John Wayne Stantruff, Sherry Bentley, Veronica Thompson, Dale Moore, Jacqueline Coleman, Angela Newlon, Robert Newlon, Sean Stanturf and Christopher Stanturf; and 10 great grandchildren, Nathan Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Austin Thompson, Tony Thompson, Michael Stantruff, Rebecca Stantruff, Megan Stantruff, Jennifer Moore, Jill Moore, and Tristin Coleman; three nieces, Wanda Trott of Manchester, NH, Bonnie Gott and Anna Whitt, and one nephew, Tom Stanturf, all of Trenton; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stanturf was preceded in death by one brother, Udell Frakes; one sister Bertha Mae Mertz; her parents, grandparents, step-brothers and step-sisters; one grand daughter, Sandra Moore; and one great-grandson, Justin Thompson.
Maternal grandparents of Mrs. Stanturf were AJ and Arvilla (Schoonover) Willis of Cainsville and her paternal grandparents were Aaron and Lizzie (Parsons) Frakes of Malta Bend. She was the great-granddaughter of Marion and Martha Overton) Frakes;and Madison and Sarah (Giles) Parsons. She was the great-great-granddaughter of Moses and Nancy (Foster) Overton and Isaac and Betsy (Norris) Seymour.
