OBITUARY provided by Marjorie:
Kathy Mills, 69, 1938 - 2007

Kathy Mills, 69, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 at Lake Region Hospital. She was born Jan. 8, 1938 in Shakopee, the first of 15 children to Jerome and Margaret (Scheffler) Stans. She graduated from high school in Hopkins.

After high school she worked as a teller in a bank and she was a Princess in the Hopkins Raspberry Festival. On Aug. 20, l960 Kathy married Fred Mills at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hopkins. Fred was in college at the time, so they left their family and moved to San Luis Obispo, Calif. After Fred finished college, they moved to Newbury Park, Calif.

Kathy was a busy mother. She was very involved with her children. She was a classroom mom, Girl Scout assistant leader, and a daycare mom. She was also involved with a Jaycee wives club. Her house was the home where the neighborhood children always came to play. There was always food and activity at her house. She participated in many school activities with her children.

In 1977 the family returned to Minnesota to farm in Amor Township, rural Battle Lake, for the next 10 years. She was active in her church and participated in the women's circles. She and Fred moved to Fergus Falls in the fall of 1999 when Fred retired. They enjoyed traveling and visiting their children and grandchildren until Fred's death in September of 2000. After Fred's death, she resided in Fergus Falls.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She would play games with them, read to them (which they loved), and did crafts with them. She usually talked to one of them almost everyday. She was a good listener and they knew that grandma would always give them the time that they needed.

Kathy was a devoted wife of 40 years and was a great Mom. She was happiest when her children and grandchildren came to visit. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafting, and working outside in her flower garden.

She is survived by three daughters, Jennie Mills of Battle Lake, Bonnie (Brian) Kruse of Marshall, Julie (Mark) Johnson of Fargo, N.D.; a son Michael (Angela) Mills of Maple Grove; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Rachel and Alexander Mills, Kyle and Blake Kruse, and Skyler and Spencer Johnson; her mother Margaret Stans; her brothers and sisters, David (Sandy) Stans, Victor (Jeri) Stans, Ed (Lois) Stans, Susie Schanus, Jim (Diane) Stans, Nick Stans, Tom Stans, Jerome (Lynn) Stans, Margaret (Leo) Hesse, Charles (Rita) Stans, Ruth (Jim) South, Rose (Dave) Forsman and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her father, Jerome; her sister, Theresa and brother-in-law, Jerry Schanus.

Blessed be the Memory of Kathy Mills. She will be missed.
