Aubrey Alton Stanford of Vancouver, WA, passed away December 17, 2009 at the Ray Hickey Hospice House after a six month battle with dermatomyositis and lung caner.
Al was born November 20, 1936 to Carl Clayton and Lilly Marie (Davis) Stanford in Stephenville, Texas. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1954 until 1958. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force he moved to the Pacific NW to be near his father.
He began working for the Bonneville Power Administration in 1964 and retired in 1993. He served an apprenticeship as a substation operator and later served as Safety Manager. He graduated from Central Washington State College in 1972. After graduating from CWSC he joined the U. S. Army Reserve and retired as a captain.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; and their two children; of whom he was very proud, Suzanne Stanford of Los Angeles, CA and Michael Stanford (wife Deborah) also of Los Angeles.
Thank you to all the nurses and staff at Ray Hickey Hospice for their attentive care.
A private service has been held at Willamette National Cemetery. Evergreen Memorial Gardens handled all arrangements.
