Children: Minnie Lee Stanford, Bessie Louella Stanford Perry, Walter Smead Stanford, Florence Adella Stanford Kuhn, and Lillian Pearl Stanford.
Just after their marriage they moved into the home of William's uncle, his father's brother Smead Stanford who was widowed and wanted them to take care of him in his later years. His daughter was married but evidently he wanted to stay in his own home. He may have been quite demanding as in a letter he mentioned that he didn't know "what was taking that wife of William so long to move in." Uncle Smead seems to have had a strong personality.
Was it an offer too good to be true or a hasty decision when they got married? They had signed a contract which guaranteed him heat and a place to sleep. Most likely expecting much more. Smead lived much longer than all expected and they decided to part after about 20 years.
