Daughter of Aaron Stanbery and Patty Humphrey, Nancy is a descendant of Josiah Stanborough and Frances Gransden that were part of the Winthrope Fleet and original founders of Southampton ,Long Island, New York. Nancy's Great Grandparents were Recompense Stanberry of Scotch Plains, NJ and Anna (maiden name unknown at this time).
Nancy Jane was a cousin to Henry Stansberry the first A.G.
from Ohio that served as U.S. A.G. under Andrew Johnson.
Nancy was the wife of William Anderson, married March 31, 1841 in Ashe County NC.
William and Nancy then migrated to Claiborne and Hawkins County Tennessee and were the parents of Martha Jane, Lydia Elizabeth "Hart", James L, Sarah, Jules, William "Jesse" and Evan Stephen Anderson.
Nancy's husband William Anderson died between 1855 - 1860 in Hawkins County Tennessee.
Nancy is head of household in 1870 in Subdivision 93, Braffords Store district, Knox County, KY (p. 186, line 35, Household 9, Family 9). Living with her are Martha (age 30), Sarah C. (age 25), William J. (age 19), Evan S. (age 16), and Mary A. (age 9).
By 1880 Nancy is living with her son William "Jesse" Anderson in Brush Creek, Knox County Kentucky.
She likely died soon after the death of her youngest son Even 1892 in Knox County Kentucky and is buried there.
