Agnes Josephine Rudolph Stack was born to Mary Ida and John Laurence Rudolph on December 3, 1879 in Los Angeles, California. She was baptized in St. Joseph's Church, Los Angeles. In March 1900, her family moved to Santa Ana where her father was employed by the City of Santa Ana Water Department. They lived on Main Street & Custer Street before moving to 111 W. First Street. Agnes and her sister Elizabeth attended First Street, Central and Lincoln grammar schools. When her youngest sister, Marie, was one year old, they moved to 724 Garfield Street, adjacent to St. Joseph's Church. Her parents raised their own vegetables and many varieties of flowers.
Agnes attended high school at the Old Red Brick Schoolhouse, 10th and Main, and Santa Ana High School. After graduating in 1916, she worked for the County of Orange as Deputy Purchasing Agent.
Agnes' sister, Elizabeth, met Michael Lynch at Aunt Gertrude Young's one Sunday afternoon. Michael was in the Infantry, stationed at Camp Kearney in San Diego. On the train going from Camp Kearney to San Diego, Michael shared a bag of peanuts with the buddy next to him, thereby meeting Charles Stack, a member of the Signal Corps. The next time Michael went to visit Elizabeth he took Charles along and introduced him to Agnes. Elizabeth and Agnes corresponded with Michael and Charles during World War I when they both served in France.
After being discharged from the Army, Charles returned to his home in Greeley, Colorado. He moved to Santa Ana where he went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad in April 1920.
Agnes and Charles were married on June 6, 1922 in St. Joseph's Church, Santa Ana. Their first home was on Bush Street where their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, was born. They built a new home on Hickory Street, across from Agnes' parents, John and Ida. Edward and Virginia were born there. In 1933, Charles was transferred to Hawthorne and they lived there for seven years. They returned to Santa Ana where they lived until their deaths. Charles John Stack died on May 17, 1964. Agnes lived in their home at 1312 Martha Lane, Santa Ana, until her death on February 13, 1976.
