Dorothea Mann Staab, age 92, died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at St. Anne's Retirement Community, where she had been a patient for 2 months.

She previously lived in a cottage at St. Anne's for 9 years.

Born in Columbia, June 23, 1919, she was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rohrer Mann and Sara Stauffer Mann.

Graduating in 1936 from Columbia High School, she worked for 36 years at the former RCA Corp., retiring in 1980.

She previously worked as a clerk with the Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. in Lancaster.

"Dottie" was married for 38 years to Carl E. Staab who died in 1999.

She held memberships in the Ladies Aux. of VFW Post 8757 Mountville, and Wrightsville American Legion Post 469.

An avid bowler, Dot bowled in various leagues at Leisure Lanes and Columbia Bowl.

Despite being classified as legally blind, she maintained a decent average and thoroughly enjoyed the social aspects associated with (and until less than a year ago) often bowled four times a week.

She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and spent many summers along the Susquehanna River at Murphy Hollow where she and Carl had a cottage.

Dot was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbia.

She was the last of her immediate family.

She is survived by a step-daughter, of Stevens, a niece and 11 cousins.

A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at 11am in the chapel of St. Anne's Retirement Community.

Please omit flowers as Dottie specifically requested instead that donations be given to ORCA 401 East Orange Street, Lancaster, PA, the Lancaster Humane League 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA, or some organization that benefits animals.
