Long Time Resident Dies at University Hospital after Month'b4s Illness
Mrs. Elizabeth Brindley, 73, died at 2:40 yesterday afternoon at University hospital, Iowa City where she had been a patient since Sept. 3. She had not been well for a nuber of years, but her condition had not been serious until a month ago.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday morning in the chapel of Jones funeral home. Rev. Alfred Trenerry, pastor of the Baptist church, will conduct the service. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery.
Elizabeth Jane Squire was born August 21, 1870, near Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Meade Squire, both of Ohio. The family moved to Iowa when Elizabeth was seven ;years of age moving to Cedar township. She attended Straw college, a rural school in Cedar township, and spent the remainder of her life in Washington county.
She was married to Sherman H. Brindley Nov. 30, 1890, in Washington. The Brindley home was in Washington where Mr. Brindley died Nov. 13, 1919. Mrs. Brindley was a member of the Baptist church and was always very active in all church work.
There are three daughters and a son surviving, Mrs. Ruth Lemley and Dan Brindley of Washington, Esther B. Wilkin of Hartford, Conn., and Mrs. William Folckemer of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren, Mrs. Charles Ramsey of Tucson, Arizona, Judy and billy Folckemer of Corpus Christi, Dannie and Linda Brindley.
