Betty Erskine Sprott, 85, of Marlin, entered into rest Sunday, March 29, 2009. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at Stranger Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Adams Funeral Home.
Betty was born in Stranger, Texas, to the late Carl Cavet and Mary Harlan Erskine. She was a nurse and worked for Torbett-Hutchins-Smith Hospital and for Drs. Smith, Sweatland and Bussell as their office nurse. She was a lifelong resident of Falls County and a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church. Betty loved to sew, was a great cook, loved to read and work her gardens, both flower and vegetables. She worked crossword puzzles and was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star. She married Thomas "Tom" Sprott on April 28, 1945.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1982; and a brother, Carl Thomas "Tommy" Erskine, in 2008.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara Caudle and her husband, Bill, of Cedar Park, Texas; sons, John Milton Sprott and his wife, Pat, of Spring, Texas, and Thomas Benjamin Sprott and his wife, Vanessa, of Longview; sister, Lu Tragis, of San Antonio; brother, Don Erskine, of Kingsland; sister-in-law, Joyce Erskine, of Waco; granddaughter, Tamsyn "Tammie" Sprott, of College Station; grandsons, Christopher Matthew Caudle and William "Andy" Caudle and his wife, Carolyn, all of Cedar Park; and great-granddaughters, Angela and Samantha Caudle, both of Cedar Park.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Carl Erskine, David Erskine, Jimmy Erskine, John Erskine, Jim Erskine and Joe Kurtz.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Stranger Cemetery Association or American Cancer Society.
