Sara Buchanan Sprott was born November 8, 1917 in Greenwood, SC where she resided her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Sara Isabelle Buchanan Sprott and William Berry Sprott and was predeceased by a brother, William Berry Sprott, Jr., and her husband, William Carl "Gabe" Deadwyler.

Mrs. Deadwyler attended Magnolia School and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1935. She attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC and the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. Mrs. Deadwyler was an active and lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood where she had taught Sunday School and led Bible studies for Circle meetings, as well as served on numerous church committees and organizations throughout her life. She served on the Chancel and flower arrangement committees for many consecutive years. She was active in the Presbyterian Women, for which she had served as historian, secretary and was on the Executive Board of the Women of the Church when the sanctuary was dedicated in 1958. She had been an active member of Circle #2 having served as chairman and co-chairman for many years. Mrs. Deadwyler was honored by the Women of the Church with an Honorary Life Membership in 1986.

She was a member of the Azalea Garden Club, Greenwood Woman's Club and the McKissick Study Club, all of which she served in various officer capacities over the years. She was a 50 year member of the Star Fort Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was a life member of the Old Ninety Six Girl Scout Council having served on its nominating committee, board of directors and many years as a troop leader. She was an honorary Life Member of the Dance de Noel Assembly.

Mrs. Deadwyler was survived by her only daughter, Sally Anderson, and Sally's husband, Steve; three grandchildren, James Stephen "Jay" Anderson, Jr., Sara Ellen Anderson and Emily Anderson Rouse and husband, Greg, and great-grandson, Thomas Stephen Rouse, all of Greenwood. She was also survived by a nephew, Claude Thomas Sprott, and his wife, Sally, also of Greenwood.
